Why I Ridiculate >
I make myself a millionaire of happiness when I give myself and others the freedom to just be.
Purposefully Ridiculous is on a moving art mission to spread joy and promote healing through shared acts of purposeful inspired absurdity. Dancing into unexpected spaces with infectious smiles, a tutu-filled wagon, and amazing beats, we hand deliver an invitation to celebrate life out loud, in vibrant color, and with all the joy you can possibly muster. We come to make art out of this moment and reach across perceived boundaries. We invite you to step in time with your fear and self-consciousness. Dance with us and experience yourself in connection with other humans being Purposefully Ridiculous together.

Why It's Great >
For years I have suffered from anxiety. Being with this group allowed me to be who I was and to not feel anxious or afraid. I am forever grateful.
PURPOSEFULLY Inclusive
Purposefully Inclusive of every age, gender, race, economic status, presentation, and ability, we invite everyone we encounter to play along. We provide light-hearted encouragement to move from a space of assumption, fear, and judgement toward active participation in the Purposefully Ridiculous.
We have ridiculated in the streets, in malls, parks, pubs, eateries, sporting events, weddings, parties, hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and programs for the developmentally disabled.
Since our first parade in 2016, thousands of individuals accepted our invitation with immediacy, halted their day to share a moment of silliness and joy, to be Purposefully Ridiculous.

WEAR TUTUS
We are most often seen as a silly squadron passing out tutus to former strangers. Tutus are fun and colorful. They just weep with whimsy and are some of our favorite power tulles for sure.
Let us be clear, Beautiful People, we are not on a Tutu mission.
To be totally honest, we don’t care if you ever put on a tutu.

How It's Helped >
They brought smiles to everyone they encountered no matter age, gender or race. I owe them an enormous amount of gratitude for helping me find my way out of the darkness and into the world of joy, laughter and, of course, ridiculousness.
Caw back at the morning crow.
Play peek-a-boo with that toddler in the long line at the grocery store.
Sing a soothing song to your mom when she forgets your name.
